Air Astana

Air Astana based in Astana in Kazakhstan is the national airline of Kazakhstan initially known as Air Kazakhstan. It is established in September 2001 and started operations on May 2002.Air Astana is a collaborated with the Government of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems. Air Astana is a full member of the IATA (International Association of Air Transport) and is the only airline in Kazakhstan which is EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) JAR-145 certified to perform aircraft maintenance. Air Astana is a joint venture between the Government of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems, with 51% owned by the government and 49% by BAE. Air Astana leased its first three Boeing 737 aircraft in May 2002. Three Boeing 757s were added and in 2004 five Fokker 50s were acquired, the latter to largely develop the domestic network. The airliner recently entered partnership with Lufthansa expanding flight offering for the passengers of both airliners.


Air Astana has increased its fleet from 3 up to 18 aircraft, employs more than 1800, and it expanded its network to include 25 domestic and 18 international routes. Safe air travel and high quality service for the passengers are the target aims of Air Astana. As per the airlines business magazine, it ranks within the top 200 airlines in the world and within five years, Air Astana has become as a one of the major airlines of Kazakhstan.
