Air Botswana is the national airline of Botswana, based in Gaborone. It joined World Aviation Systems in September 2003 and is represented throughout Australia. Its main Base is Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, Gaborone.
Air Botswana, an African airline, was established and started its operations in April 1972. In 1988, Air Botswana started its function under the Ministry of Transport and became a part of Air Botswana Corporation.
Before that it was working under government regulations. It was formed to succeed Botswana Airways, which had replaced Botswana National Airways in 1969. It was taken over by the government in April 1988. Air Botswana operates scheduled domestic and regional services, as well as charter services. It is totally owned by the Botswana government and has 314 employees.
