Air China of ‘Chinese International Aviation Company’, is the second-largest airline. Air china starts its operations in July 1988. According to ‘Civil Aviation System Reform Program’ Air China was approved and passed by the State Department, in October 2002. The Air China combined China National Aviation Company (CNAC) and China Southwest Airlines and founded China Aviation Group Company (CNGC). The airline was offered a Star Alliance membership. Air China has its main hub in Beijing.
Air China was established and started operations on July 1988. In 1999 it merges with China Southern Airlines. Air China joined the Star Alliance on December 2007 along with Shanghai Airlines. In early 2000, airline teamed with China National Aviation Co. Group (CNAC), the CAAC's Hong Kong-listed commercial arm, to establish a Hong Kong branch. It is the only airline to fly the PRC national flag on its entire fleet.
It operates 5090 flights in a week, and is also the 18th largest airline in the world by fleet size. In the Chinese aviation industry, Air China merged with Zhejiang Airline during 2004. In the second-half of 2005 the airline gets Partnership with Asia Miles. On June 2007, Air China was ranked 461 out of the Worlds Top 500 Brands.
