Air Malawi is national airline based in Blantyre, Malawi. It was established in 1967. The airline of Malawi is wholly owned by the Malawi government and operates regional passenger services. Its main base is Chileka International Airport, Blantyre. Air Malawi establishment is done by the Act of Parliament and it starts its operations on September 1967.

Air Malawi was formed after the splitting of the Central African Airways. The airlines operate both schedule and chartered flights. The first launched Air Malawi aircraft were 2 Vickers Viscounts - a 748D (7Q-YDL) and a 754D (7Q-YDK), two Avro 747s, a Britten-Norman Islander and a Beech Baron. The Air Malawi airline provides domestic and regional schedule or chartered air transport services for passengers and cargo and ground handling services.

In 2006 Air Malawi launched the second Boeing 737- 500 for the route expansion. In December 2006 a London flight and Dubai second frequency was launched on code share with Air Zimbabwe. In 1992 the BACs and the HS were used the fleet for the domestic and regional services.
