In 1953 Delta merged with Chicago and Southern Airlines. The airline was merged with Northeast Airlines in 1972. Delta Airlines began its first flight to Hawaii with L-1011 aircraft in 1984. It introduced the Boeing 777 into its fleet in 1999. The airline becomes a member of SkyTeam, a global alliance in 2000.
