Air Nigeria was the national airline based in Ikeja in Lagos State, Nigeria. It was established in 2004. Later the name was changed from Virgin Nigeria Airlines to Air Nigeria. It used to serve its scheduled services to international and domestic destinations throughout the Europe and Africa. Headquarter of Virgin Nigeria was located in Lagos. Its main hub was in Murtala Mohammed International Airport (LOS).

All the flight services and operations of Air Nigeria were discontinued on 10 September 2012.

Air Nigeria Profile

    Virgin Nigeria was established by the Nigerian government and Virgin Atlantic Airways in 2004. The airline inaugurated its first flight in June 2005 from Lagos to London Heathrow using an Airbus A340-300 aircraft.

    The Nigerian government set a deadline of April 2007 for all airlines operating in the country to ensure better services and safety. Air Nigeria satisfied the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)’s criteria in terms of re-capitalization and was re-registered for operations.
