HOUSTON (AP) -- Continental Airlines Inc. said Friday its consolidated traffic increased 1.6 percent last month on higher international capacity.
Consolidated revenue passenger miles rose to 9.2 million from 9.1 million last July. A revenue passenger mile is an industry measurement accounting for one paying passenger flown one mile.
Overall capacity increased 4.3 percent compared with July 2007 as the company increased its international capacity.
Year-to-date, traffic is up 2 percent to 56.2 billion revenue passenger miles. Capacity is up 3.5 percent to 69.7 billion available seat miles.
The carrier's fuel bill averaged $3.92 per gallon for the month, up from $3.72 in June.
