Aerolíneas de Baleares is now famous as Quantum Air has its main base in Madrid, Spain. The airline was founded in 1999 and started providing air flight services in July 2000. In the beginning, Aerolíneas de Baleares operated domestic flights services from Madrid. Later Quantum air operated scheduled international flights for charter and ACMI services to several destinations in Europe.

Initially the airlines started operations by the name Aerolineas Baleares Blue Star. The company was owned by Spanair and SAS Group till 2009 and then the name was changed to Quantum Air. Quantum Air or Aerolíneas de Baleares has ceased all flights operations on 26 January 2010.
