Currently known as ‘Nepal Airlines’ is an airline of Nepal, based in Kathmandu. Nepal Airlines is owned by the government of Nepal. Royal Nepal Airlines was established in July 1958 as a ‘Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation’ (RNAC). It operates more than 40 domestic and 7 international flights throughout Asia, Middle East and South Asia. Its main base is Tribhuvan International Airport.

The airline started services with one DC-3 aircraft and its international air services were started to limited Indian cities like Patna, Kolkata and Delhi. In 1960s, it began to expand its fleet and network of destinations.
It introduced the turboprop Fokker F-27s in 1970s. In 1972, Royal Nepal Airlines acquired Hawker Siddeley HS-748 and Boeing 727.
