Established in 1991 as Sahara Airlines, it started covering northern sector of India with capital Delhi as its base. It changed its name to Air Sahara in 2000. Air Sahara started its international flights operations in 2004. Air Sahara is an associates of Sahara India Parivar.
Jet Airways took over Air Sahara initially in 2006. After that Jet made a final attempt to take over Air Sahara in 2007 and renamed it to JetLite. Further Jetlite was merged into Jet Airways on 25 March 2012 to form all new JetKonnect as a separate airline.
