Air Algerie Profile

    Air Algerie was set up in 1947 as the Société algérienne de construction aéronautique (SACA)-Air Algérie. By 1974 it was came under the ownership of the Algerian State. CGTA and KITTY unified on 23 May 1953 to make the Compagnie de Transports Aeriens Air Algerie, having a fleet that was mixed. Efforts for Clermont, Ajaccio, Montpellier and Perpignan, periodic services were began by Air Algérie subsequent merger. Additionally, Switzerland was added to the regular schedule, an end at Palma was done on a weekly basis in partnership with Aviaco - Mediterranean routes were operated with Air France.

    By March 1970, the government was the owner of 83% of the business. By July 1980, Air Algerie had and 5,621 workers and a fleet consisting of 57 plane. Air Algerie selected seven 737-800s and three 737-600s to replace its existing 727 and 737-200 aircraft. Delivery of the seven 737-800s is scheduled for 2000 and 2001, with the three 737-600s scheduled for 2002. Air Algerie, which is in the process of expansion, is the fourth largest airline of Africa. It carries over 6 million passengers a year.

    Currently, global scheduled services were offered by the business to the USSR, the UK, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Egypt, France, Indonesia, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Libya, Romania, Spain and Europe, among a comprehensive national system, too as other states.
